Switching Games within the same machine

The lighter side... playing for entertainment, less concerned about "the math."

FP, I offer a bit of possible improvement of CS single-quarter play. Nickel 5-play. $200 dollar royals, less painful. I am forced to this play casionally when my bankroll for the trip has been "Invested" sans REBATES and the ATM has resisted all pleas.
Assuming the nickel and the quarter game odds are the same, nickels would be the better game. Unfortunately, casinos normally drop the odds on nickel games to make up for the loss in revenue. I use Video Poker for Winners software to tell me which game is better. It is common to find single coin odds better at higher denominations than max coins at a lower denomination. Odds don't always tell the whole story. To be happy playing single coin, you must be able to stomach short coin royals. This is difficult for many players.
Generally for non-wild games, If the paytable drops one "notch", then max betting the lower paytable has just a slightly better return than short coining the better paytable. If it's two notches or more, short coining the better paytable is usually a higher percentage return. Some notable exceptions are TDB and Shockwave, as they short other payouts than the Royal, so not betting max in those games can be very costly.

nickel 99.54 games with the ability to play at least 25 at a time are a Martingale clone players dream. Just like the 2 cent vp Mohegan Sun had years ago that allowed up to bet 100. I killed those machines back then with the clone until they pulled them. They also had one eyed jacks in the menu which I loved and did very well with. The best I can do on a budget with the clone is at Mohegan Sun. 96 percent games that allow you to bet up to 40 nickels. I did great playing those last Friday nite after I busted my bankroll on dollars. A cold machine on dollars eats you alive fast. Just as an aside Vman, not that you ever would try it.......I played 5 nickels until I lost 5 bucks. then 6 nickels until I lost 6 bucks more, then 7 nickels until I lost 7 bucks more, and so on. Anytime I won a bit and the win dropped me to where I was down 5 bucks or less, I would bet 5 nickels again and so on. My bets were only around 6 nickels when I hit the 5 aces and a few minutes later 4 deuces at bet 6 giving me a nice 70 buck or so net win on that nickel machine. Lots of fun for not lots of money. The company was good...the Mrs. and the beer was too. Trying different types of Lager lately. My favorite. Can't get used to the dark or Bock beers. Love those bottom feeding yeast the Lager is made with.
