CK[/QUOTE] DO you think we have "open borders" now?   No we do not....do not confuse the fact that we have such Massively long, immense borders with "open".   It is against the law to cross into the USA along either the Canadian or Mexican Border  (or via the COASTS for that matter, another route of entry often overlooked) except at designated points of entry.     We have had a standing Border Patrol Department for many many Decades, and they do the best they can in stopping the crossing of illegals.     But surely you must know that given the size of both norhtern and southern borders, it is impossible to perfectly "Seal" the border without going to such immense effort, costs and what not that the so called "solutions" end up costing far far more than the overblown problem in the first place.None of you have even remotely touched on the REAL, primary reason our borders are set up the way they are (as are out PORTS and Airports, which are also conduits for people who enter the country initially legal, such as on a tourist visa to visit Disney World via Orlando, or a temporary visa for any number of reasons.....and then they just NEVER leave, they melt into society and voila, another "illegal immigrant")    It's a lot more than the border.....but it all has to do with BUSINESS, COMMERCE, TRADE!   You cannot have the vibrant, dynamic high volume kick ass economy the USA enjoys without having relatively free flowing traffic and people coming and going.....you just can't, and that is why for the last 75 years, despite periodic "uproars" like what we have now by people who are just myopic and racist, the real reason things stay the way they are is BUSINESS.SO there's your answer.....the borders are only "open" to the degree necessary to conduct business, trade, commerce, tourism and the legitimate flow of people commensurate with the requirements of a free capitalistic democratic society.    You want questions no one will ever answer?  try these:   Why is it so often that affluent (i.e. "wealthy, rich suburban families" ) have illegal immigrants working for them as live in housekeepers, nannies, estate groundskeepers etc?        Who do you think will do the jobs that currently get performed by illegal aliens, jobs that NO american wants to even consider doing?        What's the REAL reason these illegal aliens, the vast majority who do indeed come here ONLY because they wish to work and simply earn a basic meager living, do NOT go through the so-called legit legal process or channel for immigration ?      Trump said they are all rapists and murderers and drug dealers....everyone's ok with him saying things like that huh?

Most people want secure orderly borders that allow legitimate business and traffic to take place in a timely fashion while discouraging all other wrongful or illegal activity....would you agree with that assessment?

Well that, in theory is what we have and have had the last century.....again, given the nature of our economy and society, we need a certain amount of free flowing traffic no matter what. Now, you keep throwing this question about "open borders" as if it's a simple uncomplicated issue.   Did you read or consider what I raised in terms of all the issues involved?

We currently have border security, inspection and the whole nine yards. Have you seen the current lines to get into the USA these days along the southern border???

The question, the only question really, amongst all you people who have been bamboozled by Trump is do you want a massive wall along the entire southern border..... that's it.   There is no "open border" do your question is irrelevant.

Strange that you ask that. A little research shows MS-13 was founded in the good old USofA.
In L.A., in fact and it was California gang members who were deported to El Salvador who spread it.
Statistics show that of 186,000 people detained in Cali for illegally entering the country, less than one tenth of one percent had any affiliation with them.
Did you know more toddlers die from being shot by their siblings with their parents guns each year than are killed by terrorists, foreign or domestic.
