Phil, better to lick your wounds than to let it open a can of whoopa$$ on you. Part of the downside I guess. RNG can be your friend or enemy. @Wildman, I hope you find that next RF my friend.

Gambling problems come in all forms.  Obviously the most serious are bankruptcy and divorce.   Thankfully, I haven't had to face those problems.  My wife has always been very tolerant of my hobbies and tries to get involved whenever possible.  My finances are such that I could lose money every day playing quarter VP for ten lifetimes and it wouldn't hurt me financially.   If I played $5 VP, I'm sure I could lose it all in one. There are other less traumatic, but nevertheless "problem" gambling issues.   My problem is the regret I feel when I do everything I am suppose to and I lose despite of it.  I hate losing money.  I can hit four aces with a kicker at 9 AM.  If I lose $100 of it by 11 AM, I am depressed.  God wired me to make money, not lose it.For this reason alone, VP is losing it's appeal for me.   Since my wife fell, I haven't been to the casino and I don't plan to until she recovers.  We'll see what happens after that.  Right now, I am playing all the VP I want on this website for $8 a month.  My wallet grows fatter every day and I don't lose a dime to the casino. My anger toward the people who got me into this situation is understandable.  If someone sold you a car that turned out to be a lemon, won't you be angry?  You may want to drive down to the dealership everyday and walk the showroom with a placard telling others not to buy what they are selling?  I'm sure the people who loved their cars from that dealership would think I was nuts, but they aren't struggling with my car.  I realize this is unhealthy thinking.  It's not anyone's fault that I lose money playing video poker.  The game was created for that exact purpose and it works perfectly as designed.

Phil what I am about to say may sting a bit but it's true: You got yourself into the situation, nobody else.

And comparing casinos with buying a car that turns out to be a lemon is not a fair comparison, IMO.

Sure, the lure of easy money has a strong appeal but any person of sound mind is completely able to weigh that appeal vs. any pitfalls or landmines that may befall them.

I'm not criticizing you personally but this is just an observation of the entire gambling climate. The same could be said for those who play the lottery.

But the only way to "win" at your games is "not to play". Don't you remember the very end of the movie "WarGames"? Lol If you were really concerned about making as much money as possible, you shouldn't play at all and get a new hobby. 8/5 DDB is designed for the casino to win for the casino, no matter how you play. As simple as that. But if you think playing it provides enough entertainment for the cost, then that's okay.

After I hit Aces w/kicker for $500 the last time I was in Vegas, I bled off maybe $80 of that afterward that night. I wasn't too thrilled about that of course, but I knew that was a possibility. At the time, I still was playing, drinking, and generally enjoying myself.

If VP stops being enjoyable, then that's also a very good sign to stop.

This is what I do. And as I constantly watch the starting 10,000 credits quickly disappear, that tells me to never play the lousy games for money.

Until I read this post I was preparing to post something similar. Needless to say, I agree.
