Anyone been to new coast casino?

Post by Chicagoan »

Has anyone been to the new Island View non-smoking casino on the Mississippi coast? If so, what sort of paytables did you find? Any comments regarding the casino itself?

We haven't been there since they opened the new non smoking casino.  The Island view was always one of our favorites.   The clientele is mostly seniors. It's not too noisy and the smoke didn't seem as bad as some.   The main attraction was the VP at the bar in the back.  They used to have 9/6 Jacks or Better at the bar.  The other games at the bar were also decent.  We haven't been there since last February, so I don't know what they have now.  At one time the lunch buffet was the best I have ever seen.   In recent years they kept reducing items, so it's not that great anymore. When we go to Biloxi, we always make the drive down to the Silver Slipper in Bay St Louis.  We always stop at the Island View along the way.   The drive down the beach is very scenic. None of the VP odds in Biloxi are Vegas VP.   Nevertheless, we always have a good time.  Some of the best seafood on the planet.

Phil, I usually go to the Slipper when I am on the coast. It is the site of my best wins. However, the last few times I was there I was stuck next to extremely poor-mannered smokers. Slipper doesn't have any accomodations for non-smokers. So I am now considering trying the Island View's non-smoking casino next time I am on the coast --- if the paytables are decent. I have been to the original Island View and it was never my favorite --- maybe because I never won there. Before the hurricane I went to the Grand Gulfport some --- Island View's predecessor. This was back in the days of decent paytables.

The Silver Slipper's air is so thick with tobacco smoke you can carve it.   I guess they don't believe in cancer.  We usually only stay an hour or so then head back to Biloxi and catch our breath along the way.

Its bad enough that many of them leave piles of ashes and butts right on the machines and don't even use an ash tray, but some just flick the ashes onto the carpet and burn holes in the seat cushions. Mohegan Sun just installed brand new heavy vinyl covered chairs that are cumbersome and uncomfortable, but besides that many of them already have burn holes right through the heavy vinyl. I wish there was a way all of the mess they make and damage could just appear by magic in their homes. On second thought, they probably look like that already.
