% of mistakes

Post by JoB Hero »

Hi Gang, i have recently purchased video poker for winners.. i cant believe how bad my game was at the "advanced" level... This program has definitely put things into prospective for me as to what it means being a 99.99% player... That being said i noticed on the program i am able to ignore a certain level of mistakes i make. as most of you know im a recreational player that flys out to laughlin several times a year.. this year it will be 5 trips, Around 25 hours of play per trip. My question is this, with roughly 125 hours a year how low would you get set the error meter? IF i were to set it to ignore all mistakes under .05c how much would that impact my edge? At this time i dont believe ill make it to 99.99% accuracy. if i did hit 99% i would consider that "close enough" to where id want to be.Is there a mathematical equation for ignoring "minor errors"?If at all. how low do you guys set your mistakes to ignore?

You should strive to play as close to perfect as possible. When penalty cards are introduced is where most mistakes are made. Usually these are minor mistakes

The Dancer/Daily Winners Guide for Jacks or Better will tell you the correct plays and explain them. With
that said, in VPW, assuming you're playing 9/6 JoB, if you go to Training Style and set it to Play
Against Strategy, that will teach you to play at the 99.9+% accuracy
level. Note that, however, if you are dealt Ah Qd Jh Th 4h and hold the
best way, namely AJT4, the computer will flag that as an error.

Thanks bob, i completely forgot you made separate individual guides for each game. So far ive been using VPW along with Video Poker for the intelligent beginner guides.. its alot nicer having to look up each mistake instead of looking at an error chart for learning.Did the dancer/daily guides come with the wallet sized strategy cards? Also the JoB guide is going on amazon for 135$ used and 500$ new.. ill check out your website for hopefully better pricing

YEAH..THAT WOULD BE AN ERROR...but, when you feel the machine like I do hand you keep track with your play AS much as u can, that mistake will be a winner and the big one not at times.

JoB Hero....Your Laughlin trips, do you use junkets, casino comps,or on your own? I like Laughlin as a change of pace on vegas trips. Free rooms and food are easy in vegas but i don't rate air. Used junkets many times in 70's & 80's when i played BJ. Maybe i am missing something here (would not be the first time) . Would you , or anyone else, care to enlighten me on what is available for VP top card players?

are they junkets if they are provided by the casino? or are junkets the 3rd party ones that get a cut for getting me on the plane? either way im not paying for it so i look at it as a comp. i believe what you are looking for can be found at VPFREE2.com.. look at Aquarius slot club for top tier level... im not sure if that would be a better choice for me because i lose the free flights if i dont play enough at riverside.

After using the program for about 2 weeks and 500+ hands a night i cant believe how fast i was playing at 99% strategy for NSU. Also the program allowed me to see "perfect play" and "strategy play" with a difference of only .00809% for JoB and .00218% for NSU... i honestly thought there was a bigger impact between the two. im personally only planning on less then 50,000 hands a year. at this point im not prepared to put in the effort to get myself to the "perfect play" level.. but its nice to see the impact game to game.

im not sure if i posted this information yet. but when i was playing "winpoker" on my iphone i was easily 95%+ over 1000 hands of JoB.. the week before i purchased VPFW i was able to hit 450 hands before my first minor error.. feeling proud i thought tackling the VPFW test mode was going to be childs play... it took me a couple hundred hands to get to the advanced level. (you need 40 correct hands in a row to move though beginner and intermediate.) once i achieved the advanced level i believe my average was 83% for JoB. i restarted the test several times with the same result... so i swapped games to NSU. picked up the dancer reported with strategy card and re-read the section of DW in "intelligent beginner" book... somehow after these 2 weeks im more confident in my NSU game then JOB.. the game i practiced for over a year...

Thank you for the great program and all the information/opinions you have given us.. i 100% recommend this program to everyone even to people that might play only a couple times a year on a recreational casino trip.
