Another bad Dream Card hold

Post by pokerpokerpoker »

It has been said before that while playing Dream Card, the machine doesn't always award the best (highest EV) card when the Dream Card feature has been activated.

I've personally seen, while playing DDB DC, a hand such as 4H, 2C, 10D, 6D, DC - where the Dream Card will pair up the 10, instead of the 4. A notable error.

I have heard, but never seen, that in dueces wild if you have 3 dueces, a royal card and a Dream Card you will be given another suited royal card to make a wild royal. The fourth duece would be a far better card. This is a huge error.

Last night while playing $1 9/6 TDB on a seemingly brand-new 5 Star machine, I was dealt 4C,5C,10H,6H,DC. The 3C was awarded as my "Dream" Card. Obviously, pairing up the 4 is a much better play. This situation was a new one for me.

Dream Card has been out for a long time and I would have thought all the glitches would be worked out by now.

The game will select what it thinks is the best one to choose, although sometimes the game gives incorrect advice. If you don't like the card offered, you can click "Dream Card Enabled" to toggle through the other cards until you find one you like better.

It's not a bug. So you should be able to choose another dream card. Have you tried that?

The button is right under those coins in the screenshot you posted.

The fact that you can change the dream card does not alter the fact that the machine did not select the correct card, despite the claim that it would. Inexperienced players may not realize that fact, and misplay the hand.

Dream card is never an easy game. Players must keep alert and understand the best card you actually need. But most players even don’t know they can change the dream card being a dimwit.

The example given by OP relating to 3 deuces are dealt and 4th one is not in dream card. If the player knows that they are actually able to pick the dream card, they would do it.

OP is a VP veterinary but maybe he doesn’t know if he is able to change the dream card, since he knows the card for the case is another 4, holding pair of 4s is better than going for 2 open end straight.

I knew about changing the Dream Card and I did. I was trying to give a heads up to players that like DC and who might assume the machine always gives the "right" Dream Card. It is always important to know the strategy of the game you are playing.

Because of this obvious flaw, these games NEED TO BE REMOVED from ALL casinos.

This is a bit off topic but still involves Dreamcard and something ALL players must be aware of....

At Ocean Casino, and also at the GN in AC, there is a new version of Dreamcard available that is different from the older version that was originally published with the Five Star games many years ago when Five Star first came out.

The New Version APPEARS to be the same but it is a far far worse game to play than the original: In order to tell which version you are playing, you must access and view the "HELP" menu available on each game, and go to the screen which specifically lists the frequency of the appearance of the dreamcard, on average, for each game offered. Here's the specifics: The OLDER VERSION(s) of Dreamcard offer games where the frequency of the Dreamcard activation ranges from 28% (for TDB) to 30-40% (for games like DB, BPDLX, DDB) to 50% (for games like Deuces Wild and JOB); This new version of Dreamcard now featured at Ocean Casino (and on ONE machine at the Golden Nugget) in Atlantic City only offers the Dreamcard activation at rates ranging from (11% to 17%)!!!!! It's a MASSIVE difference on the NEGATIVE side for players.....do NOT play these games, even considering the Ocean Casino allows betting as low as only 5 cents per credit (the older style Dreamcards never went below 25 cents).

Seriously folks, CHECK the "HELP" section on each dreamcard game before you bother playing. Nothing worse than putting 100 bucks into a DC machine, selecting Deuces Wild and assuming & expecting to catch a dreamcard every other hand, only to find 8, 10, 12 hands going by before you finally get a dreamcard and your credits are long gone by then!

DaBurglar, the new version is also available for play on this site (under the name Dream Card Poker) for those who want to try out both versions (the old version is called Draw Poker with Dream Card).

You are correct that the Dream Card bonus frequency is lower in the new game, but there is an important up-side as well that is the reason behind that: Your Dream Card hands are significantly better, on account of the fact that when the bonus is activated, three hands are selected (as in Super Hand Poker) and you play the best of those three with the Dream Card. So lower frequency, bigger reward when the feature is activated.

There are also graphical differences and the game logo is different, so looking at the HELP screen is not necessarily required if you know what you are looking for, though it never hurts. The easiest way is to look at the name of the game in the graphics atop the machine.... Dream Card Poker is the new one, 3-5-10 Play Draw Poker with Dream Card would be the older version.

Hmmm, ok, what you described makes complete sense, I was totally unaware of this "get dealt three hands when the BONUS is activated" feature because, well it did not actually happen! I must be missing something....

I just tried your site's version real fast (both the ten handed version and a 3 handed version) and received two different instances when the DC "Bonus" was activated, but failed to see three (3) different hands appear with the best one being chosen.....all I got was a typical dreamcard hand (1) that played out just as before.....?????
