Another interesting day in a locals spot.

I scored a couple of House Seats for a viewing party of the UFC at a casino Saturday night.
The main event was scheduled to go on after 9 but I had to pick up the tickets by 730.
We get there early, meet some friends and get a great group of seats.
They are asking $12 a beer so I pop out to the casino bar where I can play 8-5 Bonus and drink for free. Two beer later, I'm down $4 and $2 in tips as I head back. I'm really only interested in the last two fights so I have time to play some more.
I spy an older slot, Wolf Run, that I used to play. This is a very volatile game. Seems like every 50 spins or so, you get a lot of wild cards and if you match them with a top symbol, it can be lucrative. I order a beer and start playing. I'm down a few bucks when the "magic spin" occurs. Unfortunately, The wilds have only two minor symbols to work with and the spin pays $12. A different symbol could have paid ten times that. I cash out and my original $40 is down to $32. I move to the next machine and figure I will play it down to $20, at .90 cents a spin. I lose 12 straight spins when the reels go nuts and spin wildly. A different screen appears and it says press to proceed. More wild spinning and it says I've won six free spins.
First four spins yield nothing, but the fifth kicks in three bonus again and I win five more spins. Spins 6 and 7 give nothing, but spin 8 lines up a whole bunch of a strange symbol and I get three envelopes. I chose one and it says I get one spin at 3X pay with all wild payouts doubled. What I didn't realise was all those strange symbols were locked in as wild. I spin, line up some symbols and win $15. Suddenly one of the wilds disappear and I win another $15. I realise each of the nine wilds is worth $15. The hand pays $150 and the remaining hands yield another few bucks.
I end up with $158, or so I thought. Three envelopes appear and I have to chose one. I pick one and it says 2X. I cash out, some $300 richer because the casino got greedy. Had the beers in the lounge been a reasonable $6 or $7, I'd have bought a half dozen. Instead, the Shepard got sheared.

Sounds like you had a nice evening. It's interesting to me that you would play a less than 100% game. I'm pretty sure Wolf Run is not a game an AP would play. I play slots too and I have had some great wins. I'm not ahead lifetime, but I've had lots of fun along the way. Did you pick that game because you had an advantage?

Nope. I picked the game because it happened to be there and I wanted a beer. I rarely play slots but didn't feel like walking back to the VP area. I wasn't even using a player card.No advantage play, just a bit of nostalgia.
Just dumb luck.
House Seats are different from getting comped. The people at House Seats request you spend a few dollars in return for the tickets they give you.

Howlin' Wolf, nice play bill. Were you drinking one of those craft beers that Vman always does or are you more of a Miller High Life kinda guy?

Michelob Light is my first choice but most places carry Mich Ultra. On the rare occasion I set out planning on an evening of serious drinking, I tend to drink Corona.

Mexicans won't even drink Corona. By and large, they consider it comparable to urine. I agree. Your play certainly exceeds your palate!

When I drank, my favorite beer was Piels in long neck bottles. Bought them in a hard case and liked to Dr ink them warm. When I went to my cousins house he would say, " Hey, Pauly. How ya doin? Beeya's in the oven for ya."

Memories of a bygone brand. Oh, how we stray off topic. If I see a Wolf Run, I may have to try twenty. But I rarely stray from the massive VP canyons, so it's gotten hard to see the forest for the trees.

Nice going BR. Now that everyone has jogged my failing short, but excellent long term memory, I played Wolf Run once in awhile and remember a few good hits, but never 300. That's great. As to the beer, since we had nothing growing up, dad always bought the cheapest beer and to him beer was beer. I carried on that way for many years too. In my day, it was Piels of course, Schaefer, my favorite, Schlitz, Schmits, Ballantine, Rhinegold, Pabst Blue Ribbon, Carling Black Label and a local favorite from a very old New Haven Brewery, Hulls Export. BR may remember that one if he owned a tavern in NY. Both Schaefer and Hulls on tap were excellent, especially at ten cents for a pony, but I'm sure Vman is cringing as I write this. Hee, Hee!
