AC prediction

Post by DaBurglar »

Unless the Sports Betting additions really pay off for the AC casinos, I predict in two years there will be yet another "crisis" in AC over the fact that there just are not enough players and their bankrolls to go around to justify the two new casinos added to the existing seven (which had achieved a decent equilibrium before both sports betting and the 2 new casinos were added.)

If gamblers flock to AC casinos during football season (or I should say, if the AC casinos do a decent job attracting and making it worthwhile for bettors to show up during Football season) then things should be ok for all 9 casinos.....but if they do not, and these 2 new joints just try to hack out their own survival based on the old marketplace dynamics and volume, then forget it....the simple fact is, by themselves, these two new casinos are just rehashed & polished versions of what's already there and already been there....I saw NOTHING that "wowed" me or anyone else when I briefly visited AC a week and a half ago. In fact, Hard Rock, from a Video Poker standpoint. sucks....there's hardly anything there compared to the rest of the casino! 2 measly rows of VP games with putrid paytables....that's it! At least the TAJ, for all its smelly decrepit shoddiness had a decent variety and selection of VP when it was there.

Ocean mixes it up somewhat and spreads the VP games around so you aren't pigeonholed to one small part of the building, and Ocean smells nicer and is more "open" than hardrock in terms of it's atmosphere inside....but Ocean still has the same handicap Revel did, it's location at the far end of the Boardwalk makes it very difficult to access for a lot of people, plus they never fixed the problem with the one (and only ONE) on-ramp from the boardwalk into the casino itself, with that one single ramp being on the FAR end of the building walking from the rest of the casinos on the boardwalk....I guarantee you a lot of people GIVE UP trying to find it before they ever reach or see it!!!

I was at the Golden Nugget for dinner on Tuesday and it was shockingly empty for a summer evening. Old crowd too. Tillman Fertitta's yacht was docked at the Marina. Hope he sees what is going on and loosens up some games, otherwise it is in trouble.

Atlantic City can do there part also to bring people to the casino. Lower the tax or do away with the tax on casino bus's that come into the casino's.
