The problem is they don't bother to read what I say. They only hear what they think I say. When I said AP strategy doesn't work on negative games, I mean what it says. I am not saying AP strategy doesn't work on positive games because it does. If you bet max coins on a 96% VP game and continue to do it without limits, you will lose more money than playing it with single coin quarters. That is a fact.

Lets stop these silly back and forth augments about nothing. If you don't like what I say, fine. Come up with a strategy of your own that saves money playing negative games and we'll listen. If all you want to do is argue, there are political websites where you can do that all day. All I want to talk about is having fun playing VP without cleaning out my bank account.

You win. I give up. I am totally convinced now that there are a good number of posters in this thread and forum who literally cannot understand what they are reading.

Since it is impossible to have an actual discussion with people like this, I will no longer try.

Poor Phil. All he wants to do is help people out. I suppose since his intentions are good, we should ignore the quality of his advice and simply be impressed with the quantity.

Okay, we eliminated one malcontent. It is progress. I'm glad you're losing $8 an hour. It sure beats my $80+ hourly loss when I hit a cold cycle. Quads can only save my bacon maybe half the time. I love the high speed act and its thrill. But half the time I bust; feels like I've barely crawled out of a wreckage with ten broken bones.

I am not on this forum to eliminate anyone. I go on this forum to talk about playing the video poker games I have to play and how I play them. None of my friends that gamble make money gambling and they don't expect to. I don't either, but I have found ways to enjoy gambling without walking around with empty pockets. If I am breaking some rule by doing this, I'm guilty as charged.

Many casual gamblers are influenced by stories of professional players who make a "nice living" playing video poker. I know I was. These stories are true. They are also good for business. They attract players to the game and give them hope that it will happen for them. When Power Ball Jackpots approach a half million dollars, everyone buys a ticket. The dream of winning all that money is worth $3 bucks. Unfortunately, buying the dream of winning big playing video poker costs a lot more.

For most people, going to the casino is a way to spend an enjoyable few hours. For a tiny few, it is a job. For far too many, it is a great day when they walk in the casino and a depressing experience when they walk out. It doesn't have to be like that. You are not going to win money long term playing 99% of today's video poker games. You will win once in a while and lose most of the time. You are paying to experience jackpots. Your cost to experience these jackpots are the losses in between.

If you are lucky enough to live near positive games at an affordable price, I envy you. Most players in other parts of the country do as well. Enjoy the edge you have over the house because it may not last. Don't call the rest of us names because we can't play your games. If we had a choice we would be there with you.

When you go to a casino, stop dreaming about big jackpots and enjoy having fun. If you can't have fun unless you win a pile of money, know that most players are going to pay more than someone over in the corner playing quarters. As long as you know that, I'm good with whatever you decide to do.

Agree. Facetious about that line. If it wasn't fun, I wouldn't go fifty times a year. My jackpot dream has morphed into a quad dream to get me even par.

But, if someone has the nerve to suggest that you've not really made the effort to seek out better opportunities, your knickers knot up, and off we go!

To be candid, I have absolutely no idea whether or not there are better choices available to you. What I, and most folks who play the game, do know is that outside of Nevada, games with a 100% or better pay table, are virtually non existent. In order to determine if obtaining a theoretical return reasonably close to, or more than, 100%, can be achieved one must consider comps, if they have true value to you, "free" play, cash back, etc.

But, your total evaluation process is "look at the odds". I assume that means the pay table. That said, how can you positively state that there are no better opportunities available - you haven't looked for them.

And yet, you berate others for pointing this out!

Hooray! Willful ignorance and inability to process information triumphs yet again!

Residents of the rec forum wear their ignorance like a badge of honor. Wonder what the "odds" of that are.

My comps at Harrah's Joliet, IL this weekend include: Saturday - $100.00 comp at their steakhouse and a pair of Ray-ban Aviator sunglasses, and; Sunday - $75.00 Macy's gift card and $75.00 in freeplay. I probably won't play at all but I might stop by for these.
