Phil is right about the poor maintenance of some VP machines at the Borgata, however, he lost me when he claimed to see the same cards reappear after being discarded. I have been playing in AC for 25 years and have never seen that happen. I have been looking for that to happen every time I hold four cards, but it has never happened.

There are many methods a casino can use to "rig" the machines without touching the innards of the machine. They can fail to maintain them properly causing unintended player errors. They can place the good machines in an area that makes them difficult or tiresome to play. They can put them in places where the glare is overbearing or place them next to the crap tables where noisy drunk players break their concentration.
With the possible exception of poor machine maintenance which could cause player errors, none of these actions meet my definition of "rigging".
I agree. The things that Phil lists are "annoyances" to me. But too many of these may make me take my business elsewhere.

I believe what was happening at the Borgata was the hold buttons were faulty on many of the machines we played. "Hold" above the card would not show. When we hit the deal button. the card would blink, but the same card would remain. My wife noticed it first and showed me. I saw it happen numerous times after that.

There are several sticky buttons on the bank of 4 Game Kings that have 9/5 SDB. I know which buttons they are and take care to make sure I make the proper holds. Slows me down a little, but that's all. 2 machines are good and 2 have sticky buttons. I don't even bother with the VP at the B Bar because they all have sticky buttons with all the drinks that have been spilled. It is a bit aggravating, but I would rather play a good paytable with sticky buttons that an inferior paytable with nice new shiny buttons.

Thanks for the clarification. We are not newbies at VP. We know poorly maintained machines when we see them. The Borgata is not the only casino that doesn't properly maintain their equipment. We refuse to play bad machines whatever the odds. As soon as we discovered what was happening, we left for the Mohegan Sun.

But if it happened several times in a few hours, why not get video? I would. And I bet Carcounter has played at least 10k hands at Borgata since your claim and he hasn't seen it? Why do you think the machines were just out for you and your wife? It really makes no sense whatsoever.

A few months after you first claimed this, I dealt with a semi sticky button in Tunica that would sometimes toggle on and off and made me mishold a hand or 2. I pointed out to the slot attendant, suggested they work on those buttons and moved machines.

When we discovered the problem, we showed it to a slot attendant. She called the floor manager on her phone and she told us he would come over. We waited 45 minutes and he/she never showed. At that point we had enough of Atlantic City and checked out as soon as we could. There are too many nice places to play VP without subjecting yourself to filthy machines, bad buttons and lousy service. The Mohegan Sun was wonderful. Thanks to Olds442jetaway our room was comped. We had a great time and could not find anything to complain about.

If I was seeing things I would have left also. Notice how you don’t answer to further questions about this bs you spewed though. Normal behavior for you.
