The lighter side... playing for entertainment, less concerned about "the math."

I think my video poker experience is closer to the majority experience of more players than an AP's in Vegas.
I don't want anyone to interpret this statement to mean I think I know more about VP than an AP. That's ridiculous and another example of how my words can be misinterpreted. What I meant is my day at the casino is closer to the average VP player's experience. I don't believe the average player in America only plays VP when he/she has an advantage. If that was the case, there wouldn't be many VP machines left in our casinos.

Back to the original point. Take it easy on a negative game, everyone outside the Silver State. You're just paying more of the casino's bills otherwise. :ouch:

The only thing to say about them is, wait for it,.......DON'T PLAY THEM!

Exactly... you can't demand that AP's talk about something that they are fundamentally opposed to. Playing for entertainment is fine... it's not the responsibility of AP players to teach people how to play losing machines.

The only possible advice they can offer has been done many times. Don't play. If you do play, play less or slower. The end.

For those of us who DO play primarily for entertainment, there is a lot more to discuss. I don't expect AP's or experts to be the voice of that and I don't throw out accusations or compare myself to an AP all the time. That's the reason some people end up getting an earful. Nobody cares if you talk about playing negative games or for fun. It's the constant harping on AP play that draws the criticism.

I'm taking your advice and only talking about what happens when I play VP. APs, Video Poker Professionals or whatever you want to call them are not my primary focus. However, when you promote yourself as an expert on something, you open yourself up to scrutiny.

I believe there is a lot more to playing video poker than making a profit. Those are the things I want to talk about.

Sounds good thank you. Would be nice to move on from this repetitive cycle.

Sounds good to me too. We'll see how long it takes for someone to open it up again. It won't be me who initiates it next time.

Here are a few recent examples of other reasons to play vp. I met a guy while playing today that I used to race against in the 1960's. Haven't seen him sense. We went to the garage and he showed me his beautiful and quite rare 66 Dodge Dart conv. fully restored and a built 273 correct motor. I had a light lunch at the buffet and met the head chef who used to be a host. He gave me a recipe for a great rub for ribs on the grill. The lady sitting near me had a funny looking green drink. She told me it was a Pistachio Martini. I tried one and it was great. Another player told me about Titi's Vodka another time. I haven't had another brand since. Last trip I got a tip about a great restaurant on the shore in Niantic Ct. Went there with a friend. The best Rhode Island Clam chowder I ever had. The list goes on and on. Including meeting Mr. and Mrs. Florida Phil several times and finding we have another hobby in common. I have also learned about how to get extra free stuff from the casino just for asking. These things aren't advertised, but they are nice gestures like sending up to your room at no cost a gourmet cake with linen tablecloth, real silverware and china, and flowers on the side when you have a special occasion and are a guest at the hotel. Every trip may not be a winner and in fact most aren't, but for me nearly every trip is a winner in many other ways.

Now I'm really slipping. That was supposed to be Tito's Vodka.
