There is nothing wrong with renting a home. You don't have to worry about maintenance, if you don't like your neighbors you can move and if you have to relocate it's easier than selling your home. Buying a home is the biggest investment most people make. A lot of people lost money in 2008 and can't afford to get back in. I had a business partner that went through three divorces. Each time the wife got the house. He wishes he had rented.

My problem with Billy is he never says anything worthwhile on this forum. All he does is make vague comments and insult people. If you ever get him in an actual discussion, he avoids answering the question, calls you names and side tracks the issue. Once in a while he puts in a plug for Dancer's classes or a free steak dinner somewhere in Vegas. The only thing I actually learned from him is you can get your dog groomed with comps.

Billy, if you have a specific problem with any statement made on this forum, tell us what it is. This hit and run tactic you use doesn't help the forum, it's only a distraction that you use to avoid answers you don't like.

All of those things would be at least double here in Ct. The house itself would probably run 450k in a gated community. New spec house raised ranches just built near me went for 375k

Which is why I moved to Nevada. I also pay $400 a month for a 20x34 industrial space. Try finding one on Long Island for less than double that. Even grocers are cheaper as they pay less rent and cheaper salaries than back east.

I should perhaps temper that comment a bit, as there are some deuces wild games paying 100 for a wild royal that aren't all that bad.

The problem is Billy and I live in two completely different worlds. I don't know him personally, but I get the impression he moved to Vegas so he could be totally consumed in gambling. In his world professional gamblers are heroes. In mine they are people making bad life choices. In my world video poker is a diversion not to be taken seriously. In his world, it seems to be the most important thing in his life. In my world, people can do anything they want with their own money as long as it doesn't break any laws or hurt someone else. In his, playing contrary to math is punishable by death.

As an old man, I have great memories of my life. My greatest memory was not hitting a royal flush. I enjoy people who have creative talent and live productive lives full of accomplishment. I do not envy people who spend their nights starting into a slot machine when they should be home at night. I don't for a minute think anyone intelligent would choose a life like that. I guess they do in Billy's world.

Because our lives are so different, we will never understand each other. This is not an issue for me. Evidently it is for him. Perhaps a little understanding might fix this situation? I doubt it, but there's always hope.

The hilarious thing is even when Phil talks about stuff he is clueless about, he can't get it right.
I've twice in two days told why I moved to Vegas. Phil ignores it and repeats the same nonsense I long ago corrected.
If I had to pick a person I think is a hero, I'd go with Harry Chapin. I try to live up to his philosophy of one for me, one for them.
Phil drives many hours each week to play garbage games. Then he comments on what people should be doing. I'd point out the hypocrisy, but why bother. Casinos are horrible smokefilled places patronized by lowlife degenerates. Except when he and his wife spend their vacations there.
