There is new computer technology becoming available called "AI" or artificial intelligence. Companies like Google, Apple and IBM are leading this field. It won't be long until the video poker machine will know what you are thinking by how you have played. They won't break any laws and the effect will be subtle as first. This will be very hard to detect. Will the regulators be able to keep up? I doubt it. I'm not saying there is a problem at the moment but it's coming. If you don't think this can happen, Google it and find out.

Times are changing and it's not only the odds. Players should be thinking about what they will do when positive games don't exist anymore. You can quit the game or reduce the amount you put through the machines. Which one will you choose?
People beat negative games all the time. It's well known a player can overcome the House edge in blackjack and pontoon. Under proper conditions, 3 card poker and Ultimate Texas Holdem can be exploited.
The fact is some carnival games can sometimes be beaten because the House doesn't protect them well.
I've seen James Grosjean playing a Big Six wheel in Binions as well as diceless craps in Oklahoma. I promise you he saw something he knew he could exploit.

May I politely suggest that a new thread regarding AI is started so that the topic of Player's Clubs and betting can remain the focus here?

No need to go off topic. When you talk about how a player's club calculates comps and free play, you should address AI. They may offer you comps based on the games you played or how you played them. They can also be more targeted in their offerings. Right now I believe the calculations are fairly simple. If two players have the same coin in and one wins more, are their comps the same? I've always wondered about this.

I was explaining why I brought it up. Back to the original subject. If two players have the same coin in at the same casino and one wins more, are their comps the same? I've always wondered about this.

Yes...in most casinos. Casinos don't care if you win or lose (on negative games) as their hold remains constant. There are exceptions to this but usually it makes no different if you win or lose.

When I hit a royal flush, my free play increases even when I don't increase my denomination. Could this be a coincidence?

At Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods, even swiping your card and not playing can cut your average bet in half from that 30k session you had the day before. It will cut your offers big time too. I haven't learned my lesson yet about the swiping or playing small on the way out the door. Its a tough call when you are leaving the next day and have say 20 bucks in free play and only an hour or so to play before you have to go home. Are you better off forgetting the free play and swiping entirely the day you leave or do you just play it and hope for the best and least damage on your offers being reduced. I guess it depends on a multitude of factors and varies from casino to casino. One more thing I have to remember. Fill up my tank with my points when I get there, not the day I am leaving and not playing. That screws you too as far as offers goes.
