The Recreational Forum Has Been "Hijacked"

Post by OTABILL »

According to the descriptor, the Recreational Forum was established to discuss “The lighter side... playing for entertainment, less concerned about "the math."”. You would not know this reading posts and replies recently. Almost everything is math oriented or related. The lighter side, what a joke. Playing for pure entertainment, that’s almost heresy. Folks should be able to post their views without being bashed or being criticized for what they find enjoyable. Quite frankly, it’s understandable why many former regulars are no longer posting and there are few newbies. Where are the Billyjoes and others who made the forum a lively and diverse place?

I have been fighting this battle for over eight years. All I ever wanted the Recreational Forum to be is a place where players who play VP purely for entertainment could discuss the game as they see it. This does not work for the members who believe math should control everything in the game. I agreed to stay out of Strategy Forum discussions and I have done so. These members continually badger our posts, call us names, instigate arguments and do everything to poison our forum experience. They run off or intimidate new members who wish to be part of our forum. There are no new members because they are afraid to post. Webman sees this happening and does nothing to remedy the situation. I cancelled my Gold membership for this reason. Until this situation is permanently resolved, I see no reason to support this forum.

From discussions with WOV and LVA members, it seems like many of them are former posters here who grew weary of the same posters starting numerous threads on the same garbage. Many people come to learn the game and almost everyone capable of teaching it has moved on.

This is where you are wrong. Some members come here to learn. Many more come here to meet new friends, discuss different ways to play and talk about VP without some expert trying correct their every statement. Billy, not everyone wants to play VP your way. Teach the players who want to be taught and leave the rest of us alone.

There are nine threads on page one, all by the same poster, which could easily be one.
Who is doing the hijacking? Does the forum really need nine threads about a system as useful as sliced beer?

I've never started a thread telling people how to play. Unlike you.

Have a honest discussion with someone unfamiliar with the very term is a waste of time.

For some reason you have become the VideoPoker.com forum expert. You seem knowledgeable and intelligent. If you in are, you must realize there are more players like me in the casino than you. You are not going to turn them all into APs. Players like playing VP the way they play or they wouldn't be doing it. What is wrong with someone playing single coin, using Martingale Strategy or picking red cards on Tuesday? What does that possible do to you?

If someone wants advice on the best mathematical way to play VP, they should be directed to the Strategy Forum where you can help them. It doesn't help anyone to waste your time picking fights with people who don't care what the odds are or the best way to play a straight flush draw. Why ruin the forum for everyone so you can reign over a kingdom of no one?

Questions best asked in the mirror.
Tell me, phil. Of the nine threads you started on the joy of CS, how many newbies did you educate?
How many people have joined this forum thanks to your wonderful guaranteed not to win system?
IF your system was any good, would you need to constantly plug it years after it was shown to not do what you claimed from the start.
In a rare moment of honesty, you even admitted you gave up on it, but a month later you were back pushing it incessantly.
I've never claimed to be a video poker expert. I can, however, recognize a fraud a mile away. I'll leave it at that.

This is not the forum for those who want to learn the game or those who can teach them. That's my point. They should post on the Strategy forum and be answered there as well. I'm not talking about the experts and pros who presumably are the WOV and LVA members capable of teaching VP either.
